There is no other info in that publication about the lighthouse, but I did find this for you from the book *Nineteenth-Century Lights-Historic Images of American Lighthouses*- The 1877 Annual Report recommended that * a light be established at the northern point of Belle Isle to guide vessels into the south channel of the Detroit River, which is almost exclusively used. The reefs extending out from Isle aux Peche and Belle Isle make it difficult to strike this channel in dark nights, and a large number of vessels annually grounded on one or the other of these reefs*. The Michigan lighthouse was completed and lit in 1882. The keeper's dwelling, boathouse, and a stone retaining wall with an iron railing around the site were completed the following year.
