St. Ignace
Light
This steel
tower was once part of a Michigan DOT Welcome Center on I-75 near Monroe
Michigan. A rebuilding of the center in 2005 included demolition of the
tower, but it was saved and moved to St. Ignace.
The tower
was re-assembled on the dock formerly used by the railroad ferries Chief
Wawatam and Sainte Marie.
Interested
local supporters are seeking a permit to operate the light as an aid to
navigation. |
