Cheboygan
Crib Light Located at the base of the west breakwater, on Lake Huron, at the mouth of the Cheboygan River in Cheboygan, Michigan. The lighthouse was built in 1884, off-shore to mark the City of Cheboygans water intake crib, and to guide vessels into the Cheboygan River. When the light was no longer needed and the base was crumbling, the tower was incorporated into the new breakwater. A circular steel tower 25 foot tall, the light is painted white with a red roof. It is no longer lighted. Visitors can view and walk around the light from Gordon Turner Park at the end of Water Street in Cheboygan. A few blocks up river from the Crib Light is the Cheboygan River Front Range Light. |
