McGulpin Point Light McGulpin Point Light was completed in 1869 at a cost of $20,000, this light was deactivated in 1906. The establishment of the Old Mackinac Point light made McGulpin Point unnecessary. Located three miles west of Mackinaw City, the 1-1/2 story yellow brick dwelling with an attached octagonal tower is now a private residence. The lantern room has been removed, and it is difficult to recognize that it once was an important light for vessels traveling in the Straits of Mackinac. The light tower and dwelling are visible from the road. |
